When Jenny has been hired to play Harp for your Ceremony, you can also hire our DJ service for your reception. A well-planned reception focuses on the celebration of the Bride and Groom. The music you select is played and can include your recordings. We limit our microphone talk to what is requested, believing it is the bride & groom's reception, not the DJ's show. We DJ with over 4000 songs that are pleasing to your guests and appropriate for each phase of the reception. We announce the bride & groom's entrance, your first dance, the throwing of the bouquet, all with professionalism and good taste. We DJ with two people; one operates the equipment, the other assures the reception is well coordinated with the Bride, the Groom, the Photographer, and the Caterer.

The Flow of Events

  1. As your guests arrive, usually well before the Wedding Party, instrumental music (without vocals) sets the mood, which encourages conversation. Jazz, classical guitar, piano or new age work well as your guests find seats, select a beverage and visit with each other. Your DJ can assist by welcoming guests and showing the locations of the gift table and the beverages.
  2. The events start with the introduction of the Wedding Party followed by the Bride and Groom. Your DJ introduces either the Bride or Groom or the entire Wedding Party.
  3. If your reception includes a meal or buffet, your DJ announces "Dinner is served". The Bride and Groom are usually served first. Mellow vocals or instrumental selections can continue so that dinner conversation is encouraged.
  4. The next event is the cutting of the cakes. This announcement is coordinated with your photographer and video people. Champagne Toasts often closely follow cake cutting to the Newly Weds by the Best Man, Maid of Honor or Parents. Your DJ has a wireless microphone so your speaker can be heard from any part of the room.
  5. Special dances are next. The Bride and Groom begin with their first dance as husband and wife. Your DJ will announce this special moment. Often the Bride and Groom will select special songs for a dances with their parents. If you wish, special songs can be selected for other members of the Wedding Party.
  6. Now it is party time! Your DJ announces "It is dance time". The Bride and Groom have many options for music selection. All can be preselected from our extensive play list of over 6000 songs. Music from your own personal CD collection or iPod are always welcome.
  7. As the party nears its end, the closing events are: tossing the Bridal Bouquet, tossing the Bride's garter, last dance and departing the reception. Your DJ announces these in coordination with your photographer.
Of course, this is can be modified to whatever fits your desire. We use an Event Planning Sheet to help make your reception perfect. The sheet has brackets [ ] to number the order of events. We work with you either through a personal visit or by phone until your event is planned and written on paper to your satisfaction. What are the arrival times of both guests and the wedding party? How are names pronounced for announcements? What attire should your DJ wear? What songs would you like for special dances? Would you like to include songs from your own collection of CDs? Can we help your photographer by announcing those special photo events like cake cutting and bouquet tossing? We arrive at least one hour before start time at no extra cost to you.

Sound System

Our music is played through a notebook computer using iTunes and an external hard drive giving perfect control and selection of all songs in our Library. We create an iTunes playlist based on your music choices. We play your recordings from your iPod or from a CD player. When requests are OK'd by you, your guests may search our library without interrupting the music.

Professional speakers are elevated above seat level for a great sound that still allows conversation. Two QSC K12 self powered 500 watt speakers are elevated with tripod stands. What you hear is excellent sound played at the volume you request. We "back up" our system by bringing a 2nd mirror image hard drive and an iPod with your play list of songs in case of computer failure. We bring our own draped table never needing a table from your reception facility.

A cordless handheld microphone is available for you, your best man or any of your guests who would like to make a toast or an announcement.

Two LED lights with DMX control add the excitement of color lighting in rhythm with the music.

Video Projector

We can bring a video projector and 8 foot screen for your event at an extra cost of $200. You can show your pictures by bringing your notebook computer or bringing a DVD for our player.
